In 1979, she moved to New Orleans and began studying with Kathryne Cassis of the New Orleans Duncan Dancers. Cheryl traveled to NJ to be coached by Hortense Kooluris and began performing with Kathryne as the Isadora Duncan Repertory Dancers. In 2012, Cheryl and her daughter met Ligoa Duncan and her son Michel on the Queen Mary II, sailing from New York to Southampton. The three Duncans performed in the ship's talent show, keeping alive the Duncan salon tradition. Cheryl danced the Blue Danube, Ligoa sang French country songs, and Michel read his original poems.
