Ann Cogley was a student, later assistant to Mignon Garland at the Isadora Duncan Heritage Society, Inc. in San Francisco, California. From 1978 to 1991 she performed in recitals and tours as a member of the San Francisco Duncan Dancers directed by Ms. Garland. In 1985 she was featured in the first full recital of Duncan’s Chopin dances in Japan with Mary Sano and dancers from The Isadora Duncan Heritage Society of Tokyo, Japan. She has danced as a guest artist with Lori Belilove & Co., Jeanne Bresciani’s Isadora Duncan International Institute Dancers, Dance Oremus Dance, and the Dionysian Duncan Dancers. In 1987 she founded “Duncan Gatherings” to promote collaborative projects of several Bay Area Duncan dance schools, companies and soloists. Joint workshops, seminars and festivals were subsequently held over several years. Along with Oeloel Quitzow Braun of the Berkeley Temple of Wings, she was instrumental in bringing Duncan dance into the Nia Technique®. In 1998 she presented the first full recital of Duncan’s group works in Houston, Texas with Carrie Peters and The Isadora Duncan Project of Houston Dancers. In 1999 she founded the Isadora Duncan Project, Inc., which held weekly classes in Technique/Repertory between 1999 and 2009. The Project also sponsored seminars and workshops featuring topics based on Duncan’s writings in "The Art of the Dance". Between 2001 and 2007 Ms. Cogley was artistic director of the Isadora Duncan Project, Inc.’s performing group, the Isadora Duncan Repertory Dancers of Berkeley, which presented Duncan’s legacy to local audiences. She continues to perform Isadora’s beautiful dances and to coach privately.
