Yvonne Berge

At the age of 15 Yvonne Berge began studying at the Elizabeth Duncan School in Salzburg, Austria.
It was in Salzburg that she realized with lightening clarity, ‘This is what I want to do, this is where I belong!’ For the next several years, she was able to devote all her time to dancing, painting, making music and listening to music, reading – soaking up the artistic atmosphere of this unusual school.
Then came family life, children, the war and material difficulties. Yvonne developed a system of movement education for self expression based on her research into the question ‘Can our lives be expressed in dance?
Yvonne directed the Isadora Duncan Memorial School in Paris, then established her own school.
