Performance of Julia Levien's Students
From The Isadora Duncan Archive Collection
Photos (1940-1941) donated by Renee Kahn, of a performance of Julia Levien's students. Renee is a successful artist who began taking Duncan classes at age 5 from Irma Duncan, until Irma turned her classes over to to Julia Levien, who was teaching near 14th Street in New York. Renee is second from the left in middle row. Annabelle Gold Gamson is the last student on the right in the back row. In the second photo, Renee is on the right. Renee is now creating life size cut-outs of dancing figures, which she ascribes to her roots in Duncan dance.
